The all-new electric Mercedes‑Benz GLC has been crowned ‘German Premium Car of the Year 2027’. The award was presented by the renowned jury of the German Car of the Year (GCOTY) Awards at a ceremony hosted at the Nationales Automuseum – The Loh Collection. The jury recognised the all-new electric GLC for its exceptionally well-rounded overall concept and its balanced and comfortable driving character. 

The award underscores the success of the GLC model line, which has long been Mercedes‑Benz’s bestseller worldwide. With the all-new electric GLC, Mercedes‑Benz continues the qualities that have made the GLC a customer favourite around the globe and develops them further for the electric variant. Optional intelligent AIRMATIC air suspension and 4.5-degree rear‑axle steering deliver outstanding ride comfort and exceptional agility, while generous space – including a 128‑litre frunk – and a towing capacity of up to 2.4 tonnes underscore its versatility for everyday use, leisure and travel. Inside, the optional immersive MBUX Hyperscreen – the largest Mercedes‑Benz display at 99.3 cm – introduces a new digital dimension, powered by the Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which seamlessly connects infotainment, comfort, charging and driver assistance while enabling regular over‑the‑air updates via the Mercedes‑Benz Intelligent Cloud. The selection process behind the GCOTY Award

The award is determined by a renowned jury comprising German automotive journalists, experienced content creators and international jurors. Since 2026, the panel has also included a select group of guest jurors. Together, they test drive and evaluate all significant new vehicle launches on the European market.

Each vehicle is assessed both against competitors within its own segment and in a comprehensive cross-category comparison. This rigorous evaluation process ensures that the year’s most outstanding new models are identified and
