Mercedes-AMG Motorsport to compete in the FIA GT World Cup in Macau

  • Craft-Bamboo Racing and Tigani Motorsport enter three Mercedes-AMG GT3
  • Mercedes-AMG is Guia Circuit’s most successful manufacturer with nine wins and five titles
  • Maro Engel: “Macau is a place where you can really make the difference as a driver.”

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport is returning to Macau following a one-year absence. The FIA GT World Cup will take place on the Guia Circuit from 19 to 22 November – one of the most prestigious races in international GT racing. Three Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be on the grid, entered by Customer Racing Teams Craft-Bamboo Racing and Tigani Motorsport. The driver line-up for the world’s most famous GT3 street race comprises Mercedes-AMG Performance Drivers Lucas Auer (AUT) and Maro Engel (GER), as well as Adderly Fong (HKG). With nine wins from 18 GT3 events to date and five manufacturers’ titles, Mercedes-AMG is the most successful manufacturer in Macau.

Lucas Auer, Maro Engel and Adderly Fong take on the legendary Guia Circuit

The 6.120-kilometre street circuit in Macau combines high- and low-speed corners with technically demanding sections. Precision and concentration are crucial throughout the entire race distance. Lucas Auer, who will compete for Tigani Motorsport, will take on this challenge in a GT3 car for the first time. The 31-year-old previously raced in Formula 3 in Macau from 2012 to 2014. In his most recent appearance in 2014, the Austrian finished second.

Maro Engel, by contrast, is one of the most experienced and successful GT3 drivers in Macau. His record speaks for itself: ten appearances and four victories. He won the Macau GT Cup in 2014 and 2022, and triumphed in the FIA GT World Cup in 2015 and 2024. Together with Edoardo Mortara (ITA), Maro Engel is therefore the joint record holder for GT race victories in Macau. He also has three further podium finishes to his name: second place in 2018 and two third-place finishes in 2016 and 2017. In 2026, he will compete with Craft-Bamboo Racing, aiming to add further success to his impressive record on his eleventh appearance.

Adderly Fong will also compete for Craft-Bamboo Racing and brings extensive Macau experience to the team. The Hong Kong-based racing driver first competed in Formula 3 on the Guia Circuit in 2010 and made his GT3 debut in Macau in 2014. Most recently, Adderly Fong competed in 2025 with an Audi R8 LMS GT3, finishing 13th.

“We are delighted to be back on the grid for the prestigious FIA GT World Cup in Macau with a very strong line-up. My thanks go to our Customer Racing Teams Craft-Bamboo Racing and Tigani Motorsport for running our entries. Macau is both a highlight and a challenge. Torque sensors have been mandatory in the FIA GT World Cup since last year. As we do not yet have any experience with them on the Guia Circuit, we are placing particular emphasis on preparation and simulation work. Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has a successful history in Macau, and of course we want to build on that.”
Stefan Wendl, Head of Customer Racing, Mercedes-AMG Motorsport

“I’m really looking forward to returning to this fantastic event in Macau after a year away. I’ve enjoyed some great successes there in the past together with Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. The circuit demands everything from you as a driver and you have to be incredibly precise – that’s the kind of challenge I love, because it’s a place where you can really make the difference as a driver. As always, qualifying will be hugely important for a successful weekend: everyone gives it everything and pushes to the absolute limit, because your starting position is crucial in Macau. At the same time, you always need a little bit of luck on your side. There’s still some time to go, but I’m already looking forward to the unique atmosphere and the fantastic support from the fans.“
 Maro Engel, Craft-Bamboo Racing

“I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to Macau. It is simply an incredible event and something very special for every driver. That makes me even more excited about my first GT3 outing on the Guia Circuit in November. I’ll be making intensive use of the time between now and then to prepare as best as possible, with simulator sessions as well as extensive video and data analysis.”
