Design philosophy

  • The EQ brand provides a glimpse of the future and is shaped by an avant-garde, distinct aesthetic – progressive luxury. The color scheme – a combination of black, silver and white with highlights in typically bright EQ blue – characterizes the future-oriented technology brand.
  • The EQC (combined power consumption: 22.2 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km, provisional figures)* is the first Mercedes-Benz battery-electric vehicle by the dedicated EQ product and technology brand. As the first model of this new Mercedes-Benz product range, the EQC features many pioneering styling details that will shape the basis for the fully electric Mercedes-Benz EQ models of the future.
  • Thanks to its seamless, clear design, the EQC cross-over SUV differs from Mercedes-Benz SUVs with combustion engines. The EQC is another example of the logical evolution of the Sensual Purity design idiom: sharp edges and lines have been significantly reduced.

Exterior

  • With its new, electric aesthetic, the dynamic exterior design highlights the powerful electric powertrain and has been systematically configured to maximize the all-electric range.
  • The stretched roof line and side window graphic lies between SUV and SUV coupé. 19 to 21-inch wheels emphasize the vehicle’s sporty width.
  • Headlamps and air inlet blend into a black-panel surface. Blue EQ stripes on a black background identify the vehicle as a member of the EQ family. The typical Mercedes daytime running light design continues as part of a light strip in the center of the upper side of the black panel. This creates an unmistakable night-time design featuring an almost continuous, horizontal position lamp strip.
  • The multi-part tail lamp carries through the continuous lighting strip originating at the front. Separate reflectors make the tail lamp seem as slim and wide as possible.

Interior

  • The EQC’s interior transfers the Mercedes-Benz Sensual Purity design philosophy to an avant-garde, cutting-edge, electric aesthetic. The entire design idiom has been inspired by consumer electronics: angular shapes are used instead of circular elements.
  • The instrument panel is designed as a progressive, driver-oriented cockpit. Both in terms of volume and complexity, the instrument panel’s upper section has been significantly reduced, down to the essentials.
  • The typical Mercedes-Benz wing profile is asymmetrical, with a “ cut-out” in the driver area. This is where one of the visual highlights of the cockpit is located - a high-tech, high-gloss cassette housing flat air vents with key-shaped, rosé-gold colored louvres.
  • This creates a stimulating contrast between reduced, soft surfaces and accurate, technical edges as well as geometrical shapes.
  • The air vents have been designed in EQ electric design, and are thus clearly distinguished from those in vehicle models with combustion engines.
  • In the center console, the menu is operated using a touchpad that has been integrated into a black panel.
  • High-grade materials, such as leather or wooden trim parts, convey familiar, typical Mercedes values. These are supplemented by innovative surfaces. Delicate, elegant rosé-gold accents underline this new, progressive luxury.
  • The user experience design (MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience) in the EQC makes electric driving tangible thanks to different features. Consequently, the color of the tubes changes depending on the driving style: from rosé-gold in normal mode and luminous white as part of the boost function to EQ blue in recuperation mode.

* Figures for power consumption and CO₂ emissions are provisional and were determined by the German Technical Service corporation. The range figures are also provisional. EC type approval and conformity certification with official figures are not yet available. There may be differences between the stated figures and the official figures.
